Clan Plagueis Master’s Guide

Introduction
Congratulations on achieving the coveted status of Master. As a Master, you are being charged by the Plagueis Summits to adequately and successfully guide your Student along his or her path to become an honorable Dark Jedi Knight. This task is not meant to be a simple one but as your Student progresses, eventually to the pinnacle of Dark Jedi Knight, you will be rewarded with his or her success. The Master-Student relationship is unique from any other a Dark Jedi will experience and will last for long after your Student has left your umbrella of protection and guidance.
Communication
The most important aspect of being a Master is proper communication with your Student. Communication should include various forms, including email and IRC. The Master should make a conscious effort to contact their Student on a daily basis, whether it is about important information or just a short greeting and encouragement. At least twice a week, a Master should communicate with the Student on their progress toward promotion requirements. Other information that a Master should inform their Student on is competitions, activities and possible recommendations. It is also suggested that you instruct your Student to utilize IRC for communication with yourself and the clan.
Tasks
A Master is charged with the creation of at least two minor tasks, possibly three, if the Student takes that route. A minor task should cater to the strengths of the Student while providing a level of difficulty that would force the Student to reach farther than he or she has in the past. As these are minor tasks, and are for the ranks of either Guardian or Jedi Hunter, they should not be exceptionally large but should involve a uniqueness and difficulty that would warrant the earning of the ranks. Always keep in mind that there are additional promotion requirements to get both ranks and that these are not the Trials of Plagueis.
Trials
The Trials of Plagueis are the pinnacle of a Dark Jedi’s training and the Master’s Trial should be the most difficult and involved Trial. The Master’s Trial should gear toward the Student’s strengths and interests, but must require him/her to make a step into greater difficulty. The Master’s Trial may incorporate multiple tasks or be a difficult single task. A Master may interrelate tasks or incorporate efforts in the previous promotion tasks. The possibilities a Master has are endless and should be unique and directed toward their Student. Remember that the Trial must be difficult and either directly or indirectly forces the Student to apply and utilize knowledge and skill gained throughout their training experiences.
Activities
While the Student is required to complete at least two promotion specific tasks, a Master may create smaller tasks for their Student to do. It is highly recommended that a Master provide additional activities that gear toward the Student’s interest to keep him or her involved and set a standard of activity that the Student will bear for the rest of their Brotherhood career. Activities may also be used to keep a Student active and encouraged when his or her activity declines, due to the lack of interest. A Master should mention these activities when requesting a promotion for their Student; however, this does not mean that a Student is allowed to bypass the specific guidelines set in the Plagueis Promotion Guidelines.
Promotions
A Master does not have direct authority to promote their Student. The Master must consult with their Student’s superiors, especially the Clan Envoy and House Summit. It is suggested that the Master compose a promotion recommendation that will be placed in the submitted recommendation along with House Summit recommendations.
Envoy and Summit Involvement
The Clan Envoy oversees the Master-Student Program within Clan Plagueis and should be contacted on a regular basis concerning the progression of a Master’s Student and the Master’s own efforts in training their Student in the Dark Side. The Clan Envoy is also responsible for approving all Master-Student pairings. The House Summit and Clan Envoy must approve the tasks for promotions to Guardian and Jedi Hunter, while the Clan Summit and Envoy must approve the Master’s Trial. The specific training and guidance is solely the responsibility of the Master.
